those who raise their voices to express not love, not peace, not understanding, not rational criticism – but hate, serve to make a bad situation or a bad person worse. whether it be your favourite musician, politician, lover, friend or family member. hate is negative destructive energy that serves to inflame irrationality and disorder. hate makes things worse, regardless of whether the subject of the hate warrants enmity or not. whether the person or group is so reprehensible that they deserve your barrage of invective, hate will never create a situation in which there is understanding enough to change a pattern of behaviour.
shouting political slogans about bringing down a system only strengthens and hardens a system. shouting hatred at the group that you dislike antagonises them and makes them stronger.
in a world that is polarising ever more day by day, we need to look inside ourselves and identify where hate resides. it is each of our responsibilities to see it in ourselves and be mature enough to speak to that hate – it is a childish part of us, and we give it voice, our contribution to the wider scheme of things is just to make bad situations worse. lets try not to do that.
